Notice that most of the world's oil is hold by folks who hate us??
And they do have the capacity to ignore any sanctions imposed on them if they are bent on doing it. That would raise oil prices to record highs.. suppression of the recent oil prices would be temporary given the huge consumption of those emerging countries.
And now that everyone is talking about clean energy.. let us see wat alternative we have in mind.
1. solar, or wind powered energy.
2. Alternative fuels, as defined by the Energy Policy Act of 1992 (EPAct), include ethanol, natural gas, propane, hydrogen, biodiesel, electricity, methanol, p-series fuels.
3. nuclear energy.

For me, the most interesting is alternative fuels, solar or wind powered energy might not be feasible in some locations, whereas nuclear energy is a very sensitive issue, coupled with the nuclear waste issues..

I believe that some of the companies listed in sgx in involve in such business, one of them being noble group, which has just being researched by one of the broker house.

So what is biodiesel? Generally speaking, biodiesel is an alternative or additive to standard diesel fuel that is made from biological ingredients instead of petroleum (or crude oil). Biodiesel is usually made from plant oils or animal fat through a series of chemical reactions. It is both non-toxic and renewable. Because biodiesel essentially comes from plants and animals, the sources can be replenished through farming and recycling.
Biofuels, such as ethanol made from corn and biodiesel made from soybeans, help support American agriculture.

Part of what makes biodiesel so appealing and interesting is that it can be made from numerous natural sources. Although animal fat can be used, plant oil is the largest source of biodiesel. You've probably used some of these in the kitchen. Scientists and engineers can use oils from familiar crops such as soybean, rapeseed, canola, palm, cottonseed, sunflower, and peanut to produce biodiesel. Biodiesel can even be made from recycled cooking grease!
